I-80 Bayshore Freeway reopens

Posted

(BCN) -- Caltrans reopened all lanes and ramps on the westbound Interstate 80 Bayshore Freeway early Monday morning after completing weekend roadwork, the agency said. The closure that began Friday ended at 3:32 a.m. Monday, several hours ahead of schedule, Caltrans said, adding that crews applied polyester concrete to improve the road surface ahead of the winter rainy season.

The agency's next full weekend freeway closure in San Francisco is scheduled for Nov. 6-9, when crews will finish repaving the remaining southbound U.S. Highway 101 Bayshore Freeway lanes at Hospital Curve, between Cesar Chavez and 17th streets.

Coastal flood advisory issued for Bay Shore through Thursday

The closure is scheduled to begin on Nov. 6 through Nov. 9. All northbound lanes will remain open during the work. Caltrans advises motorists to avoid southbound Highway 101 at Hospital Curve during the shutdown because of expected delays. Drivers can use southbound I-280 as an alternate route.

Crews will also begin operations on the newly repaved northbound Highway 101 Bayshore Freeway at Hospital Curve in the coming weeks. The November closure was rescheduled from an earlier planned closure on Oct. 2 to 5.
