A 15-year-old boy has died nearly a month after a falling tree branch struck him while he was reportedly with members of his high school cross-country team in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania.

The boy, a student at Parkland High School, was injured around 9 a.m. Saturday, September 26, along the 1300 block of Oxford Drive near Little Lehigh Parkway in Allentown.

29 days after the accident, the boy died Sunday, at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest.

The coroner’s office determined his death was caused by complications of multiple blunt force injuries and ruled it an accident.

The coroner said the boy’s identity would not be publicly released out of respect for his grieving family/

“I believe his family deserves the time, space, and privacy to grieve the loss of their loved one without additional public attention,” the coroner said in a news release.

Parkland High School had issued a statement following the incident in September and offer counseling support for students and staff members.
